I graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in International Comparative Studies and Arabic and completed my Master of Science in Global Public Health at Duke. I am currently completing my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami, and I am based at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School for my clinical psychology internship with the Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research. My academic and clinical work focuses on mind–body interventions, anxiety, trauma, and emerging research in chronic pain. I have over seven years of experience advising students through the college and graduate admissions process, including essay development, personal statement coaching, supplemental strategy, interview preparation, and long-term application planning. My past advisees have earned admission to selective institutions such as Georgetown University, Brown University, American University, the University of Miami, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Tampa. I also mentor applicants in public health and clinical psychology, drawing on my own experience securing competitive awards including the Fulbright Research Grant (Jordan), the Boren Fellowship, and the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) award. In addition to admissions coaching, I tutor students in English Language Arts, writing, Arabic, and foundational math, and my background as both a clinician and a yoga/mindfulness teacher allows me to support students with anxiety, stress, and perfectionism in academic settings. My advising style is structured, warm, and grounded in helping students express their most authentic voice while navigating the application process with presence, self-compassion, and confidence. Outside of academics, I enjoy teaching and practicing yoga, and engaging in community-based wellness and mental health programming.

Hello! My name is Sara Hernandez, originally from North Carolina. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies with minors in Education and Latino/a Studies. As a first-generation college student, I received support from a college advisor in a community-based organization. Through the personalized, intentional, and empowering college advising I received I was able to accomplish my dream of attending UNC at Chapel Hill. My passion for college advising began in undergrad supporting first-generation low-income students from rural communities through the college application process. In my professional career, I have served as a private school in Costa Rica and an educator at community-based non-profit organizations. Over the last two years, I have supported first-generation low-income students at a community-based non-profit. I have advised high school students from ninth to twelfth grade through academic development, leadership development, career exploration, financial aid, and college and scholarship application processes. I have successfully advised students from receiving a twenty thousand dollar scholarship in the eighth grade to receiving national full scholarships in their senior year.

In my 2025 Cohort, I have supported 10 seniors through scholarship interviews and essay editing. Allowing for my students to receive over $180,000 in external scholarships.

My goal in advising students is to intentionally empower them to share their stories authentically to achieve their goals. The journey to college can be challenging but with an advisor, the process can become more manageable!

I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I hold a Master’s degree in Higher Education and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, which have enriched my expertise in education. During my time at UNC Chapel Hill, my passion for education grew as I supported students with their transition to college and served as a mentor for new students. After completing my studies, I worked as a college advisor, helping students navigate the college application process. I have gained valuable experience as a college advisor, guiding students through the college application process, from crafting standout essays to preparing for interviews, and helping them develop a strategic approach for admission success. Currently, I work as a Career Coach, helping students and professionals with career development, job search strategies, and professional growth. I have worked with students across various disciplines, Science, Arts and Humanities, Computer Science, Communication Studies, and Engineering. My approach is to empower individuals to present their unique stories and capabilities, making the application process both empowering and enjoyable. Having grown up in Leasburg, NC, my passion for education was nurtured by helping my busy parent with her schedule and supporting my siblings with their homework, all while balancing my own academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Outside of work, I enjoy working out, spending time with family and friends, and taking trips to explore new places.

As a recent first-generation graduate and regents scholar at UC Berkeley, I can still remember how nervous I was for my first college admissions cycle. In 2020, I joined Matriculate with the hope of improving this experience for others, eventually mentoring over 120 high school students while managing a cohort of 60 college advisors. Through AIɫɫAdvisor, I have learned even more about supporting students towards their dream schools, while advocating for increased transparency and equity in the college admissions system. From conversations with many college admissions offices, I understand that colleges are not searching for the perfect student, but rather one that is able to articulate their story. My role as an advisor is to help students build this narrative by embracing their unique perspective and experiences, which I promise every student has! My previous students have been admitted to a wide range of schools including highly selective institutions, such as Stanford, Yale, Georgetown, and UC Berkeley. Currently, I work as a Research Analyst for LAVCA based in New York, where I cover investment/development projects in Latin American markets. During my time at UC Berkeley, I had the opportunity to study abroad for nearly a year in Chile, which led to my current career as an analyst. In my free time, I love performing at open mics, trying new dance classes, and spending time with my cats. Hello! My name is Alex Garcia, and I’m a rising junior at Cornell University studying business, government, science, and technology. I’m currently interning at KPMG in NYC and aiming for a career in consulting post-grad. At Cornell I strive to stay active by serving as a senior board member of an advocacy organization and regularly take part in a variety of other student clubs ranging from the student ambassadors to weightlifting groups. Outside of school, I work with a large-scale nonprofit to review grant applications and finances of organizations across North America. My college experiences build on my high school activities, where I was President of the largest student-run organization in Maryland’s most-populated school district, collaborated directly with politicians (local-national) on legislation impacting students, and much more. I’ve learned about the business world from unique perspectives and believe it’s inclusive across disciplines. With today’s competitive college and internship landscape, creative self-branding is crucial. I graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience with a Minor in Psychology. During my time in college, I worked as a resident assistant fostering community for first-year students and mentoring pre-med students. Since I graduated from Duke University in 2021, I have dedicated myself to promoting equity in college access for students from rural and underserved communities. For three years, I worked with Duke AIɫɫ Advising Corps in Sampson County with over three hundred students over their senior year to help them realize their post-secondary goals. I have also volunteered with the Duke Center for Girls & Women with ADHD for over a year. I am currently pursuing my dual master's in Social Work and Public Administration at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill to continue my work toward increasing access to healthcare and education for women with mental health concerns. I have worked with prospective students interested in being Pre-Med, Pre-Law, and studying Engineering, Computer Science, and Communication and Media Studies. I hold over 6 years of higher education administration experience advising students on their educational and academic pursuits. I obtained my B.S. in 2017 from Bowling Green State University where I received a 4-year full-ride scholarship. I graduated from Michigan State University with my master's in Education Administration in 2019. As a higher education professional, I strive to remove barriers to education and provide support to students from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. I believe that having access to affordable higher education is an amazing avenue to pursue, and an opportunity everyone should be able to access affordably. I have experience advising a diverse array of students from many different institution types and love connecting with students holistically and providing them support and resources to best reach their collegiate goals. As an educator the driving force behind my advising style is to provide guidance and support as well as getting to know my student goals, values, and priorities to help them make decisions best suited for their situation. My time in higher education has allowed me to gain a great understanding around academic requirements, extracurricular activities, and institution types. I am Megan Tang and have 10+ years of experience in advising and supporting students through the college admissions process, college access and success, ensuring students' achievement through their first year in college, and a number of other aspects that ensure your collegiate experience is transformative for you. I graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Additionally, I have a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I started my journey in the college access space working in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Wake Forest University where I conducted thousands of interviews, reviewed prospective student applications, and was a part of the team in deciding which students were admitted into Wake Forest. Currently, and for the past 8 years, I have worked with a college access organization in North Carolina, serving over 2,000 juniors and seniors each year.
